Abstract

Carex pyrenaica Wahlenberg is reported for the first time from Slovakia where it was discovered in 1958. From then on, the species was being sought unsuccessfully at the same locality. the occurrence is therefore considered only temporary , having been probably caused by random transport into a locality whose conditions (especially the climate) are totally unusual for C. pyrenaica. The nearest locality of this species are situated as remote as in the Southern Carpathians (Romania).
